Iowa Rain Gardens

Rain gardens have shown great success for water quality protection.
Rain gardens are bio-retention areas that absorb stormwater runoff
from impervious surfaces such as roof tops, streets, sidewalks,
and parking lots.

Rain gardens have been promoted through meetings, workshops, presentations, and through demonstrations projects. Rain gardens were relatively unknown before 2002 and are now widely discussed, written about, and even implemented here in central Iowa.
